Ireta is the Program Director for GLRZ Radio, 540AM violence prevention, media literacy program of St. Mary's Women and Children's Center in Dorchester. OrigiNation, founded by Shaumba Yandje Dibinga in 1994, is housed at the OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center located at 11 Walnut Park in Egleston Square in Roxbury. The center offers classes for children and adults in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Stepping, African, Tae Kwon Do, Salsa, Poppin' & Lockin', and Hip Hop. The group performing this evening, NIA Dance Troupe, is made up of high school and college students ages 14-21. These dancers are trained in all forms of dance and have performed all over New England most recently at the Democratic National Convention at the Fleet Center and for MTV Networks. You can catch some of the dancers performing in the United Way's Nutrition Awareness commercial currently airing on MTV and BET as well as check them out on the new reality show Roomies.

Our Place Theatre Project started in 1998 out of the Egleston-Jackson Strategy, a comprehensive community development plan for the Egleston and Jackson Squares, spearheaded by Urban Edge, a community development organization. The severe lack of opportunities for youth and the challenge of recurring turf wars and gang activity has been an on going struggle for community leaders. We offer young people an intensive, after-school theater workshop where professional artists create a safe environment for the youth to share their plans, their fears, and their life lessons, discover the common threads among their stories, and weave them into a cumulating theatrical performance. Through working together, the young people learn to communicate their ides, to validate their own experiences and those of their peers, and to create bridges of understanding with other young people, their parents and the entire community.

S.W.I.R.L.S. (Sisters Working in Real Life Situations) nurtures students to become socially conscious women who are independent, resourceful leaders with self-respect and dignity. Our peer leadership model allows members to design and participate in program curriculum. S.W.I.R.L.S Double Dutch team of Boston performs at events around the city. This program enhances the understanding of teamwork, discipline, patience and role responsibility.

The Topf Center for Dance Education Youth Professional Dancers are Boston city youth who study and perform multiple dance styles and disciplines at many Boston venues such as: Boston City Hall, the Strand Theater, the Boston Center for the Arts, and the Shubert Theatre. Their performances are creative, energetic, and completely performed by the student members of this scholarship only program. Prior to becoming a member of YPP, these youth had little to no formal dance training. Performance opportunities are an integral part to the program's goal of building problem solvers, leaders, and professional dancers. The dances performed range from contemporary Jazz, to authentic Greek, Jamaican, and African Modern.

"Xuchipilli - Danza y Cultura" is a non-profit Mexican folkloric dance company formed by volunteer dancers dedicated to preserving and sharing Mexican culture and traditions via traditional dances from different regions of Mexico. Founded in 1991, it is the oldest Mexican dance group in New England.
